Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts is a top venue for many performers as well as other top-notch events throughout the year. Here are some of the events that are happening at the center this May.
An Evening with Mario Cantone – May 2014
Actor and comedian Mario Cantone will be performing at the Virginia G Piper Theater Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 8:00 pm. Cantone is known for the role of the scene stealing wedding planner on HBO’s Sex and the City as well as other appearances such as ABC’s The View, The Today Show and Late Night with David Letterman. He has also appeared on Broadway and performs musical renditions, celebrity impersonations and high energy stand-up. This show has adult content that is not suitable for younger audiences.
Tickets are $39-$69 Single, $35-$65 Package and $63 Members
Discovery Series Film: Colegas (Buddies)
Discovery Series Film, Colegas (Buddies) will be shown at Stage 2 at the Center from Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 2 pm to Monday, May 19, 2014 at 7pm and from Sunday, May 25, 2014 at 2pm through Monday May 26, 2014 at 7pm. Made in Brazil and directed by Marcelo Galvao, this heartwarming film is about three friends with Down Syndrome who love movies. In their wishes to pursue their dreams, they decide to leave the caring home they grew up in. This film is in Portuguese with English subtitles.
Tickets for General Admission are $5, Students and Veterans are Free with a valid student or military ID card.
AJ’s Summer Wine Spectacular Tasting Event
AJ’s Summer Wine Spectacular Tasting Event will take place at the Dayton Fowler Grafman Atrium on Saturday, May 31, 2004 at 2pm. Kick off summer and support the Arts by discovering new wines with friends in an entertaining and fun setting. Taste from any of the 40 different exquisite wines available along with delicious gourmet specialties such as artisan breads, cheeses, sushi, shrimp cocktail, and more. AJ’s cellar masters will also be available to recommend any food and wine pairings. Live music and a silent auction will also take place. This event has a limited capacity, so advance tickets are highly recommended.
Tickets are $35 Single and $30 for Members. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.
