LEGO fans, get ready to celebrate. Phoenix will soon be home to a new LEGOLAND Discovery Center. Merlin Entertainments recently kicked off construction of the attraction by dumping 50,000 familiar plastic bricks at Arizona Mills mall. The shopping center will house the 60,000-square-foot LEGO playground by spring 2016. If you’re a brick nerd, prepare to leave your maturity at the door.
Explosions of Creativity
Like the other LEGO amusement centers, this one will be fully interactive and family-focused. The developer claims LEGOLAND is ideal for children between 3 and 10, but adults eager to build will enjoy the hands-on activities as well. The center will regularly host builder workshops, and there will be themed construction areas where little ones can let their imaginations soar.
The new attraction will also have a mini-land exhibit featuring LEGO models of local landmarks and the Phoenix skyline. Each design will be specially nominated by the community. There will be other impressive displays as well, including a massive pool made from the iconic bricks. As with the entire LEGO universe, this center is sure to be a dynamic display of visual candy.
Infinite Educational Experiences
The opportunities for learning are endless in the world of LEGO. At the Discovery Center, children of all ages will wonder, explore and create while just being kids. Whether your young ones want to take a factory tour, develop their skills in the build and test area, or watch their favorite LEGO friends on the big screen in the 4D theater, they’ll experience the delight of unlimited possibilities.
Even playtime at LEGOLAND will be informative. While your kids scurry through the soft-play zone or zap enemies on the Kingdom Quest Laser Ride, they’ll likely have questions about what they see, hear and feel. If you don’t have all the answers, don’t fret; you can make discoveries together. Family bonding is one of the greatest benefits of visiting these centers.
Admission to Arizona Mills LEGOLAND will be $19 for adults, $15 for kids and free for children under age 3. Those are reasonable prices to pay for being your child’s hero. If you visit from out of town, consider staying at Best Western Plus Scottsdale Thunderbird Suites. You’ll be just 40 minutes from a magical world where you can create multicolored, fire-breathing dragons and climb inside the building blocks of your youth.
