Sparkling Events in Scottsdale This December
The city of Scottsdale is sparkling with excitement during the month of December. Scottsdazzle, a month-long holiday festivity, lights up the city each evening with merriment, music, decorations and special events. There is so much to do and experience, you could head downtown every day of the week and still not become bored. However, if you only have a day or two for some Christmas cheer, here are some of the most exciting options.
Horse and Carriage Rides
Every Thursday night in December, you can experience the charm of Old Town by taking a cozy, old-fashioned, holiday carriage ride. This free activity is offered during the Thursday night Art Walks from 7-9 p.m. There will be live entertainment during the event, and you can end the outing at your favorite restaurant, bar or lounge in the downtown area.
Holiday Lights Segway Tour
If you cannot get enough Christmas lights, this is one tour you shouldn’t miss. Offered nightly throughout the jolly season, the tour takes you through the streets of Old Town, which are blazing with colorful, cheery lights. Even your segway will be wrapped in the festive bulbs. This tour is hosted by Scottsdale Segway Tours, so you’ll be treated with care as you coast through the illuminated roads.
Sugar Plum Avenue
Occurring in the contemporary 5th Avenue district, this signature event is all about the celebration of the season. Face painting, stilt walkers, a DJ, craft making and live entertainment are just some of what you’ll enjoy. Many area restaurants, bars and merchants will be offering discounts and specials for Sugar Plum Avenue guests. If you’re interested, head to 5th Avenue any Friday in December from 5-8 p.m.
Mrs. Claus, Candy Canes and Crafts
Scottsdazzle isn’t just for the adults. One very kid-friendly option can be found at Old Town Candy & Toys each Saturday leading up to Christmas. Bring your little ones to meet the lady in red, and enjoy some downtime while they create their very own holiday crafts together. Mrs. Claus will be giving out delicious candy canes and helping out with the crafting.
Santa Wine Around
Wear your favorite Santa Claus gear, and enjoy a fun wine-tasting walk through quaint Old Town. Five quality wineries will be participating in this event, and each will offer various specials and fun activities. If you dress the part, you’ll receive a complimentary commemorative glass as well as discounts on the tastings. The stroll takes place Dec. 15 from 5-9 p.m.
These joyous festivities are just a few ways to make some holiday memories in Scottsdale. Until the end of December, you’ll find plenty of concerts, happy hours, Santa sightings and merry décor to get you in the spirit. This is a celebration that you can fully customize to fill your personal cup of cheer.
