Float Under the Stars at Scottsdale’s McDowell Mountain Ranch Aquatic Center

The Most Enjoyable Swim You’ll Ever Have in Scottsdale

Do you love swimming but cannot stand the bright sunlight? Your dilemma can be solved at the McDowell Mountain Ranch Aquatic Center. You may already know that this specialty park is home to one of the best public pools in the Valley, but did you know it’s available for use after the sun sets? Every month, the center hosts special moonlight swims. Going for a dip just got cooler.

Family Friendly Frivolity

The night swims at the aquatic center are ideal for families. This is an incredibly clean center, so you don’t have to worry about bringing kids of any age. Little ones get such a kick out of splashing and diving in the shadows. The facility has a huge, enticing tube slide, a lap pool with eight lanes and a diving area with four boards. There are also several interactive spray features.

Tranquility for Grown-ups

Adults can enjoy the nighttime swims as much as kids. Imagine looking up at a starry sky while you float gently down a 600-foot lazy river. Or you might prefer joining your kids for playtime in the beach-entry pool. No matter how you spend your evening, the night atmosphere will rejuvenate you. The icing on the cake is the silhouette of the glorious McDowell Mountains as the backdrop.

Friendly Faces

The aquatic center is known for its expert staff. Plenty of pleasant and experienced lifeguards are always available. Safety is the number one priority at each pool area, especially at night. If you need a break but your children want to keep swimming, you can rest on one of the veranda lounge chairs. You’ll have a great view of the pool, and professionals will be keeping watch as well.

A More Appealing Water Park

People who aren’t fans of water parks still enjoy this facility. Although each swimming area at the center is a decent size, it’s still small enough to be a controlled environment. You won’t experience the frenzied activity of larger water parks. The night swims are even mellower. The lifeguards do a good job of keeping a balance between excitement and organization.

Affordable Family Entertainment

If you’re just visiting the area, this is a great way to avoid the sun while still enjoying some wet summer fun. Even better, it’s a really inexpensive family outing. The cost for open swim is $9 for adults and $6 for kids. Currently, the moonlight swim dates are set for May 20, June 16, July 7 and July 21. Swim times are from 5-9 p.m.
